ONE OF A KIND — EARLY 1900s CHRISTENING DRESS REWORKED SKIRT XS-S

There is something incredibly special about giving an old piece of textile history a new life.

This one-of-a-kind skirt has been lovingly reworked from an original early 1900s christening dress, transforming a beautiful piece of antique clothing into something that can be worn and loved again.

The fabric is wonderfully old and carries all the little marks and traces of its history. Original stitching remains in places, alongside raw and slightly imperfect edging, delicate aged lace and areas that have been carefully repaired where the original fabric and lace had become fragile over time.

It has been washed and lovingly repaired, but this is not a pristine reproduction or a newly made vintage-inspired piece. It is genuinely old, and every imperfection is part of what makes it unique.

There are also a couple of small rust marks which have remained after washing. Rather than trying to disguise every trace of its past, I have chosen to embrace them, little reminders of the life this beautiful fabric has already lived.

Reworked slowly and thoughtfully, this is a skirt with a story that simply couldn't be recreated today.

This skirt is made from genuinely old fabric dating to the early 1900s and is not in new or perfect condition.

It has been lovingly washed and repaired, however it retains the marks, stitching, wear and imperfections accumulated over more than a century. Some of the lace has become tattered or fragile with age, and there are areas of repair and raw edging. There are also a couple of small rust marks that remain.

These imperfections are not faults with the reworking, they are part of the original fabric's history and are exactly what makes this piece so special.

Please purchase this piece with an appreciation for antique textiles and their inherent fragility. It should be treated gently and loved as a piece of textile history rather than expected to look or behave like a newly manufactured garment.
